A series of stylized mandala designs using a technique that creates the illusion of depth and dimension. These are interpretations of the traditional mandala form. I call them "mandallions" because of their medallion-like appearance. Mandala is the Sanskrit word for circle. An ancient art form, mandalas have commonly been used as a tool in meditation - a way to plumb the depths of the psyche (soul) and achieve enlightenment. As a model for the essential structure of the universe, mandalas can be seen everywhere, from the atom to the sun, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community. They remind us of our intimate connection to the infinite. In short, wherever you find a circle with a center, you'll find a mandala.
