This is an ancient Indian art that originated in 1600CE from a city called Tanjore located in southern state of Tamil Nadu. These paintings have a very rich heritage and background. Princes and other royals have owned similar paintings for hundreds of years and these paintings are usually passed on from generation to generation. The vibrant color, use of 24 carat gold, semi-precious stones from the ancient city of Jaipur, and pearls, differentiate these paintings from other traditional paintings from that era. These paintings also give a three dimensional effect. They rare in the western world and will definitely catch anybody’s eye. The rich heritage and royal background of South India can be seen in the eyes and the expressions of the characters in the paintings. Each painting is done with breath taking craftsmanship that requires undivided attention and care. Some paintings use rubies, diamonds and other precious stones. However, these would cost a lot more and an advance payment is required. Most of the paintings are of Hindu mythological characters.
