I went to the beach at Jekyll Island Sound with my mother to snap photos while she met with her "open air" painting group. (My mother is an outstanding watercolorist whose work literally rivals Audubon.) It was painfully hot, the flies were biting, but the photographic opportunities that presented themselves to me (some by sheer luck) proved well worth all the suffering. Several of the photos in this gallery are nowhere near the professional quality that I strive for since my two-year-old son was climbing on me the whole time, but they have been included in the gallery to help tell the story of my experience that day.
