Current Gallery: centralia ( piece)
Centralia Pennsylvania was a coal mining town that has been destroyed by a mine fire. The fire started in 1962 but nothing was done to save the town from destruction. It was claimed as eminent domain by the state in the 1980's and slowly the buildings and houses were bought and demolished. My dad's family is from Centralia so I spent a good portion of my childhood in the small town. Sadly, our family home was just demolished in December of '09. There is currently one house remaining with two residents.
