The artwork in this is gallery about the process of painting, what the paints and other media can do and how Paul works with them. He uses a resistance and dynamic tension between the formal elements of colour, tone, texture, line, movement, rhythm, depth and form to create their wow factor. The concept the work is evolution and the process of how two or more elements come together, merge and becoming something different. The focal point in the majority of his work is the vortex. Within this vortex he attempts to create portals to another dimension. He uses a limited pallet of only three colours, the rest are created as a result of either the merging or mixing on the canvas. At times making art pushes him to a point of mental and physical exhaustion. Painting. This approach provokes many thoughts and feelings in him ranging from uncertainty, anxiety and sacrifice to absolute euphoria. As his work evolves working with mixed media at times he moves towards more complex techniques, such as incorporating digital imaging, collage, painting and photographs.
