I collect shopping bags... not because I am a great shopper (not), but because I love them as vessels, containers and they feel wonderful in the hands and ripped open.... great graphic symbols for me as a starting point for my art.... I paint on them with great passion as they are transporters holding great energy and excitement for me... What is interesting is this idea of the personal found object rather than the simple random selection of the mundane or utilitarian. Recycling is the way to go for our western materialistic civilization! I love the idea of incorporating our environment into the work. There is beauty in everything and I put it together so that the viewer can see it. I think that’s what makes art compelling… it’s about showing something that is very human and vulnerable in all of us, and not having (too much) fear about exposing it. See my website: marybogdan.com
